Remind your clients that homeowners and renters insurance does not cover flooding. Help them take the right steps to protect their homes and families throughout the year and take extra precautions when flooding is predicted in their community.

The first step to protect your client' home and belongings from flood damage is to give them a quote. You can share the NFIP Quoting Tool with them to get a free and personalized quote in minutes.

The second step is purchasing a flood insurance policy. Help your community understand why buying or renewing flood insurance can help protect their corner of the world.

The third step is sharing with your clients some proactive measures they can take when flooding is imminent or predicted in their area to protect their property and belongings to minimize flood damage:

  • A policy holder may be eligible for up to $1,000 for reasonable expenses incurred to protect insured property.
  • Store important documents in a waterproof container and, if possible, create digital copies.
  • Elevate and anchor utilities.
  • Clean out gutters and toss out debris.

Understand the risks

Rain can lead to devastating flash floods. When rain can’t be absorbed fast enough by soil or other surfaces, it becomes runoff that can create flash floods in minutes. Flood insurance from the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) can help homeowners, renters and businesses recover faster.
