The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) is making it easier for insurance agencies to sell flood insurance policies with its NFIP Quoting Tool and Agency Registry:

  • Property owners will receive a customized estimate from the NFIP’s new, direct-to-consumer Quoting Tool.
  • Contact information for three randomly selected agencies from the Agency Registry will be shared with their estimate. The potential policyholders that reach out to your agency will be informed and ready to buy flood insurance.

Add your agency to the Agency Registry and unlock access to more potential policyholders.

How to join the Agency Registry

  1. Ask your agency's principal agent to fill out the signup form.

Note: Please provide accurate information and select an organization you are affiliated with.

  2. Administrators from FEMA and your affiliated Write Your Own organization will review the application for approval.

  3. If approved, your agency’s contact information will appear in the NFIP’s Quoting Tool.

Frequently asked questions about the agency registry

  • The information collected includes:

    • the principal agent’s name, national producer number, email address and phone number, and
    • the agency’s name, national producer number, physical address, email address, phone number, and languages spoken.
  • Your agency's name, email address, phone number, and languages spoken will appear on the NFIP's Quoting Tool. It will also show your agency's physical address if the agency selects "No" to the "Are you a Regional or National Producer" question.

  • Your insurance agency cannot be associated with more than one WYO/NFIP Direct per agency location. If your insurance agency writes flood insurance with multiple WYOs/NFIP Direct, please select only one.

  • Please reach out to your WYO/NFIP Direct and ask them about participating in the Agency Registry.

  • When filling out the form, you are asked whether the agents who work with the NFIP customers are FIRA certified. If you select ‘no’ to the question, then you can still be included in the Agency Registry database, but you will not appear in the NFIP Quoting Tool. Once your agents are certified, you can submit the updated information by selecting ‘yes’ to the question and your agency will appear in the Tool. To learn more about FIRA certified training please visit the NFIP’s State Training Requirements for Agents.

  • Completed forms are sent to the administrative point of contact at your WYO/NFIP Direct. They will review your information for accuracy, completeness and approval. The principal agent will get an email notification if they are approved or denied.

  • Your agency will appear in the NFIP's Quoting tool immediately after your approval.

  • Yes, you will need to re-validate your agency's information every 6 months.

  • Yes, you can sign up each location if you select ‘No’ to the ‘Are You a Regional or National Producer?’ question.

  • If you are an insurance agency that principally services your community, select "No" to the "Are You a Regional or National Producer?" question.

  • If you are an insurance agency that principally services multiple states and/or territories, select "Yes" to the "Are You a Regional or National Producer?" question. You'll then select the states and/or territories where you are licensed to sell insurance.
