Types of Training

The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) offers online training courses for agents, adjusters, surveyors and other stakeholders.

Adjuster courses

The 2026 dates of the NFIP Claims Adjuster Presentation webinar and the Key Fundamentals of Flood Insurance for Agents webinar have not been set. We expect the first webinar to commence mid-February. Training schedules will be sent and posted to this site shortly.

Renewing or obtaining a Flood Control Number (FCN)

To adjust flood losses for the NFIP, independent adjusters must:

  • Register with the NFIP, and
  • Possess an active FCN. The Adjuster Registration Application can be found here.

The deadline for obtaining an FCN or changing any category is June 30, 2025.

Agent courses

State Departments of Insurance have taken various actions over the years to establish training requirements for insurance agents who sell and service flood insurance under the NFIP, this is outlined in Section 207 of the Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2004 (Public Law 108-264).
