Types of NFIP training

The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) has a variety of courses for a differet types of stakeholders. Below are details of what you will find for NFIP courses. 

The NFIP offers online training courses for licensed property and casualty insurance agents. Each state’s department of insurance establishes its own set of requirements for selling NFIP policies. Be sure to check your state’s training policy before signing up for an NFIP course.

Independent insurance adjusters must hold a Flood Control Number (FCN) to work in flooded communities. You can get your FCN after completing the NFIP’s adjuster webinar. Make sure you meet other criteria and have filled out the registration form before you begin practicing.

Anyone can take the Emergency Management Institute’s independent study courses for free. However, you must have a FEMA Student Identification Number (SID) to take course exams.
