Happy new year

Make it Your Resolution to Create Resilient Communities

The final days of every year have become a time of reflection, where people slow down and reaffirm what matters most to them in their lives. For homeowners, what this often means is reviewing the ways they can protect their homes and ensure stability in their futures. With each passing year Americans are exposed to increasingly destructive forces of nature and having the peace of mind that they’re taking steps to protect themselves goes a long way.

In 2022, Americans from across the nation witnessed the destruction flooding can cause firsthand. Whether it’s a hurricane, snowmelt, or even just a deep freeze causing pipes to burst – flooding can impact every one of us. The time, costs and burden of rebuilding is as devastating as the flood itself. Even the most prepared people aren’t ready, if they don’t have flood insurance.

Any homeowner who has experienced a flood themselves will agree that the best time to prepare is well before a flood. The real challenge isn’t in getting insurance, it is in trying to rebuild without it. The National Flood Insurance Program’s goal is to reduce the financial burden of flooding, as well as speed up the recovery process for those impacted. You can support in this, by talking to clients in your communities, and helping them to understand the importance of preparing in advance.

You can make a difference that changes someone’s life for the better. If your clients don’t know their flood risks, they won’t know what to do when disaster strikes. Between January and October 2022, NOAA estimates that the US has seen over one billion dollars in damages from flooding alone.

Make it your resolution to reach out to your clients and talk to them about flood insurance. In 2023, resolve to reach your clients, and speak to them candidly about the risks they and their homes face from flooding.
