Whether you’re an insurance agent, a real estate agent, or a community organization, it’s important to ensure that Spanish-speaking clients and community members can take advantage of information on obtaining flood insurance, making claims, and preparing for potential flooding events. Fortunately, the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) has plenty of resources to help you get the word out.

Educational and Marketing Resources

Agents.FloodSmart.gov includes a wide variety of materials to share in the NFIP Resource Library. Select “Spanish” from the “Languages” drop down menu above the search box to view all Spanish language materials, or narrow your search by flood risk or format. 

You'll Find:

  • Educational materials such as fact sheets on Flood Insurance, Starting Your Recovery, Appealing Your Flood Insurance Claim, and other topics.
  • Videos on the risk of flood after fire, coastal flooding, flood survivor stories, and more.

The Spanish language version of FloodSmart.gov is a great resource for agents as well as consumers. The site can help you effectively market and sell flood insurance with information and resources that help clients understand the importance and value of flood insurance. Visitors can access information and resources in Spanish by going directly to https://www.floodsmart.gov/es/inicio.

Visitors can also locate insurance providers that identify those that have websites in Spanish through the provider locator.

Spanish-Speaking Flood Insurance Experts

The FEMA Mapping and Insurance Exchange (FMIX) information center has Spanish speaking experts on staff who can answer questions about insurance and flood mapping. 

The FMIX center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
