Resilience Starts with You

nfip community with town and cars

Flooding is one of the costliest and most common natural disasters, and increasing American resilience starts one family, one home, one community at a time. Issuing more flood insurance policies leads to more resilient communities, which results in a stronger and more unified nation.

When a community participates in the NFIP, they adopt and enforce local floodplain regulation. If you’re unsure whether your community is participating, you can find out by visiting www.agents.floodsmart.gov/community-status-book. As an insurance agent, you can help to grow and nurture the over 22,000 communities that participate in the NFIP by selling flood insurance to their residents. You’re building resilience by ensuring that, wherever you call home, the people you call friends, neighbors and clients don’t lose their homes.

You may be wondering, what does the NFIP have to offer me?

Agent Testimonials

  • If you don’t already sell flood insurance and are thinking of starting, don’t just take our word for it, the NFIP has collected Agent Testimonials. Hear their stories and learn why they think selling flood insurance is such a critically important thing to provide their communities.

Tools

  • Whether you’re new to insurance or have been doing this throughout your career, everybody knows that information is power. Informed insurance agents make for informed client decisions, which can mean the difference between your clients paying out of pocket to rebuild their homes and lives after a flood and having coverage to keep them financially secure. The NFIP is constantly updating its Agent Starter Kit to help ensure you have the most current information to excel at your job.

Resources

  • Regardless of how long you’ve been an agent, the NFIP constantly puts out new materials. That includes infographics, social media marketing materials, updated publications, and more in the Resource Library. These resources are free to download or order, and can help you in reaching, educating, and selling flood insurance to clients in your area.
