Get Involved In Your Area's Flood Awareness Week
Did you know that most states have a flood awareness week to educate residents about the flood risks in their area? This is because flooding continues to be the most common and costly natural disaster causing tens of billions of dollars in damage to communities each year. In addition to more severe and less predictable weather increasing across the nation, local conditions, like a recent fire, aging dams and infrastructure, drought, changing temperatures, or major development, can increase the risk of flooding in your area.
Flood awareness weeks are a great time for you to reach out to your community and inform them of their local flood risks and how flood insurance can help protect the lives they’ve built. Mark the dates below on your calendar and get involved during your state’s campaign.*

- Florida: March 7-11, 2022
- Virginia: March 13-20, 2022
- West Virginia: March 21-25, 2022
- Pennsylvania: March 21-25, 2022
- New Hampshire: March 21-25, 2022

- Maryland: April 8-15, 2022

Anywhere it rains, it can flood – that means there are potential flood insurance customers in your community. Getting involved in flood awareness campaigns is a great way for you to identify potential clients within your community and position yourself as a trusted advisor. In addition to these state focused campaigns, you can participate in one of the National Flood Insurance Programs’ regional campaigns to help reach new clients and better inform your existing policyholders of their specific flood risks.
